Cassandra Gelbloom was born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario. In 2020, she moved to Thunder Bay to study in the Concurrent Education program at Lakehead University, where she has completed her Honours Bachelors of Fine arts, which focused on Ceramics and Sculpture. In September of 2026 she will start her Bachelor of Education. After receiving her degrees, she intends to teach Visual arts and History at the Grade 7-12 level. Cassandra focuses on creating narratives inspired by her personal experience and observations of daily life. She expresses these narratives through illustrative storytelling, community engaged projects, sound and other interactive elements. By using these methods, she aspires to build a strong connection with the audience. Cassandra has also undertaken opportunities to get involved with community arts and arts education throughout Thunder Bay. As Co-president of the Visual Arts Network at Lakehead University, Cassandra worked towards opportunities to engage with student life and the arts. She continues to facilitate through instructional roles at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery, by leading Gallery tours, workshops and teaching Children’s art classes. Cassandra continues to seek opportunities to develop her skills as a ceramic artist, as well as engaging with communities she resides in and creating educational spaces within the arts for all ages.
